PARIS, FRANCE - SEPTEMBER 18: French Army General Jean-Louis Georgelin is seen, during the 38th European Heritage Days, at Cathedrale Notre-Dame De Paris on September 18, 2021 in Paris, France. Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral was fire ravaged on April 15, 2019, when a fire broke out in the heart of Notre-Dame de Paris. For about 15 hours, firefighters fought against the flames that ravaged this historic monument in the French capital. Almost two years later, the last stages of securing continue. The great void is thus filled by metal scaffolding, which surrounds the entire site, serving in particular to consolidate the vaults with the assistance of wooden hangers. These same steel tubes will also be used, in the future, to clean up the walls contaminated by the lead emitted during the fire. The securing of the building, between the stabilization of the structure, the replacement of stones and the solidification of the vaults, will have cost 165 million euros. The phase of identical reconstruction is due to begin in 2022. Despite the crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, French President Emmanuel Macron has maintained his desire to rebuild Notre-Dame de Paris in the space of five years. The origin of the flames remains, for the moment, still unknown. (Photo by Edward Berthelot/Getty Images)
